Well, this is astonishing…

July 17th, 2010 by PeeJay

I think that we’re probably all pretty familiar with the story of the man whose eyes Jesus opened in John 9 – it’s a great chapter. I was reading it again recently and what struck me was not just the power and mercy of Jesus, or the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. I was amazed at the knowledge and reality of that man when he answered the Pharisees for the second time. (Verse 30-34) That short response to the criticisms of the Pharisees showed everything about what a real encounter with Jesus did and how we should be.

This man was brought into a place where everyone was out to either disprove his story or throw him out of the synagogue altogether. It wasn’t about rejoicing for what God had done, it was a show trial for the Pharisees to try and get at Jesus and disprove His power. They try everything, they interrogate the man and then they go and get the parents of the man (who it’s stated was of age!) and interrogate them and then, in this atmosphere of fear and intimidation this man who had been born blind and spent his life begging faces up to the knowledge and teaching and the theological force of the Pharisees and puts them right back into their place.

“Well,” he says, “this is astonishing!” He can’t believe it, all of this trouble when he’s just been healed – he can’t understand how these so called Godly men can’t see that it’s an act of God. So he tells them. His testimony of Jesus is such a powerful one because it comes straight from reality of something God had done for him and he is given words so that he can face up to the accusers and put them and all their earthly knowledge to shame with his real experience of the power of God.

Having met Jesus for the first time that very day this beggar knows already enough to destroy the arguments of the most learned people and leave them unable to reply, so scared by the real power of what he said that the only option was to throw him out of the synagogue. It’s like when Stephen gave his testimony and the sheer God power of it was too much and they had to kill him, they physically can’t stand it when God power starts talking, when the force of truth is shone in on them like a floodlight.

“You will be my people and I will be your God.”

July 7th, 2010 by PeterJ

Ezekiel 36:28 says, “You will be my people and I will be your God”.

I love this sentence, it’s so simple and yet contains something boundless.  God doesn’t want to be a theory, or to be some words on a page, He wants to be personal. He’s making a promise in this scripture – one that He makes in many others too – and through His Son he makes it to each of us, that He will be our God.

He isn’t just the God of Abraham and Isaac, He’s the God of each of us individually and we are individually His.

In 1 John 4:7-17 it says, “God dwelleth in him and he in God.”.

With the new covenant the sentence has changed slightly, it’s got even more personal. Not only is he our God but He dwells in us and we in Him.

We mustn’t lose sight of the fact that we’re called by name. God sat down at the beginning of time and thought. In 2010, what my Kingdom needs is you and you and you.  (Yes, you, the one who just read this and thought it didn’t apply to them.) And out of the six billion or so people on the earth we’ve been lucky enough to be some of those that he has chosen.

The very phrase itself dictates a two way thing. It’s not passive. It’s not a case of God sitting impassively while people adore Him.  It’s you shall be My people and I will be your God. There is nothing impassive about Him, He wants real involvement in the everyday reallity of our lives.

He is our God so we should adore, we worship, we praise, we trust, we rely. We are His people so he watches over us, keeps us safe, blesses us.

We need to know God more and more as our personal God. It says in Phillipians 2:12 that we must work out our salvation with fear and trembling. We need to be 100% confident in Jesus as our saviour both for eternity and for tomorrow and for today. We can have that 100% confidence – it says in many scriptures – look at Hebrews 4:16 “We can approach the throne of grace with confidence.”

We need to grab everything we can of God as our own personal God, our own personal saviour, our own personal hope.

Think of it He is the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, but also the God of you and the God of me. Insert your name there because that’s His promise. He chose each of us personally, there is nothing hands off about our God He wants His walk with us to be close and personal.  Don’t add extra distance between you and God by viewing him as distant or theoretical. He is real and here and yours and He wants to be your closest friend.

It’s all here, it’s all in the bible all the verses that we need to tell us who our God is and what He is capable of and what He has for us, it’s all written down for us just to open and read.

We need to lay hold of it, we need to take it that God chose us personally and therefore has an interest in us, He’s a stakeholder in our life. Believe it because it’s true.  You having a good day matters to Him, you having good health matters to Him, your job, your school, your everything matters to Him because you matter to Him.

The reality of a relationship with God should be so powerful because in it He is your God – you’re giving Him worship, you’re praying, you’re reading the word, you’re living for Him – and you are His – He’s personally rooting for your team. When it comes to the crunch and you’re three runs down in the bottom of the ninth, He’s the one that’s batting for you.

Don’t ever let anyone tell you you don’t matter to God. You’d not be here if you didn’t. There is a verse I shared briefly with the young people last week and that is Romans 9:15-16. He chose you to receive His mercy and His compassion. It’s not chance that you’re here. It’s foreordained.

“But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. And it was for this that He called you through our gospel that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brethren, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.”
- 2 Thess 2:13-15

God does not, as the saying goes, play dice. You’re not here by chance, you’re not God’s by chance; you are chosen and there is awesomeness for you personally.

That Amazing Feeling

July 7th, 2010 by Johnny

Ok i’m going to write a few paragraphs about my favourite subject … Me! Actually i’m going to write a little about what I felt that tuesday night a few weeks ago. Now i think we can all agree that the meetings have been amazing lately and there seems to be something new in every meeting, you can just feel something different when the guys are taking it and it was especially noticeable on that tuesday night a few weeks ago.

Now over the last few years I have never really felt the Holy Spirit, watching everyone rolling around laughing and … in Dade’s case running around and nothing happening to you, it makes you feel a bit left out. So on that Sunday when I went to collect the rostrum and there was – just a wave of power up there when Dade finished ministering, and I just … went. I don’t remember much after that except Dade saying “WOOOOOOO IT’S GOOD UP HERE ISN’T IT!” and after I actually managed to get up, throughout the whole day I was totally energised and buzzing, so there was a whole lot of expectation mustered up when I heard that there was going to be a meeting on that Tuesday night.

So in my whole life of being in this church I have never experienced a meeting like that, there was just so much positivity and energy in that place it was just so hard not to notice that there was something different going on. And when Dade started to minister and he just lost control and started spinning like a tornado and with Jade, Josh and Ruth dancing round at the back it was impossible to just sit, so I stood up and started to worship God … and i’m really glad I did. Because a short time into that I just felt the Holy Spirit and It was amazing, I didn’t want to stop. But then I just felt this huge surge and power just like lightning made me collapse onto my chair. It was like being paralysed I couldn’t move or anything, my hands and fingers were just immoveable, it felt like a huge bolt of lightning just surging through my body and this warmth in my chest as if my chest was on fire.To breath was impossible, to move was impossible, it was a definite wake up call from God saying “HELLO!!! IM HERE!!!!” And after the meeting I couldn’t do anything, it was just like I ran a marathon I was soooo out of breath, it was amazing!

There is no doubt in my mind that that meeting changed something and for the good as well! So whenever the guys are there I am going with tonnes and tonnes of expectation because there is no way that Im going to let that opportunity go. So come on lets grab ahold of this thing God has for us. :)

Cheers

Sharing from Luke…

June 29th, 2010 by Pauline

Luke 8:43-44

We all get weak at times and I’d just like to remind you about the woman with the issue of blood. She was ill for twelve years and she was not getting better, she must of felt very low in her self but it did not stop her from reaching out to Jesus. The state she was in she could have left things stop her but she pushed on and she touched Him and her life was changed. I wanted just to enourage us to keep pushing on like this woman did.

Luke 8:55

Jesus, His hand is outstretched towards us. He was on His way to see the young girl but they told Him she was dead; Jesus did not see that as a problem, He took her hand and her spirit rose straightaway and that is what He does for us. He lifts us up, it’s great when you feel lifted because it’s all of Jesus. Do not forget His hand is always there.

Luke 9:35

I cannot express myself when I read these words. “This is my beloved Son, Hear Him.” My heart was touched with emotion and still is when I think on these words.

Recent meetings

June 12th, 2010 by Lizzie

I just wanted to share on the amazing move of the Spirit that we have been experiencing in meetings lately. It is something that is so fresh and new, it’s like nothing I have ever experienced before.

God is really doing something special right now and it feels so great and so exciting to be a part of it.

One thing I have learnt in the past couple of weeks is how there’s really two distinct ways of feeling the Lord’s presence. One, which I have experienced before although not to the degree of this new move, is his absolute, electrifying power. Power which can make people laugh, cry, collapse, run round at lightning speed, and even, in the case of our Pastor Dade, find yourself literally flying onto the stage. But then in a meeting a few weeks back, there was a very different display of God’s Power. His presence came into the room in the form of an awesome stillness, and a great kind of peace.

I found this peace something amazing. As great as the power and electricity is, the peace of God can be just as incredible. I am the type of person who finds it really hard to turn my brain off. It’s always seems to doing a million things a minute and I rarely stay still for long. But in this particular meeting, my brain just stopped thinking about so many different things, and it focussed solely on God. For once I actually found myself able to be still. As it says in Psalms, “be still and know that I am God”. This meeting was the first time I had really managed this, to really get what is meant by being ’still’. To just be completely absorbed in his presence, and get to a place where the rest of the world, everything else around you just feels so unimportant.

I just felt like God was showing me the true meaning of peace. That it wasn’t necessarily about what your circumstances are, or about being in a place where everything is quiet. It’s about “tuning in” to God if you want to put it that way and tuning out everything else, everything that is going on in your life, everything going on around you. It about realising that next to God, whatever your circumstance or situation is, that it shades in comparison to Him and to His Almighty Power.

No matter how His Spirit has been moving in the meetings, no matter what different ways we have been fortunate enough to feel His Presence in, it is certainly a really exciting time! I feel so blessed being in a church where God is moving so regularly and so tremendously. And it has definitely got me feeling more desirous for Him and for his Spirit, and I know I really can’t wait for the next meeting!

The Holy Spirit

June 12th, 2010 by Jess

John 14:
16And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever
17The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.
***
26 But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall everything I have told you.
***

I think we can all agree that the movement of the Holy Spirit in Church has been quite spectacular these past months. Tuesday the 13th (Hopefully ive got my dates right!) was a real turning point for me. Before that, I wasn’t too bad, but I wasn’t to good either, I was what you could call a lukewarm Christian. And let me tell you, the spirit no likely a ‘lukewarm Christian’. So its safe to say, after Sunday the 11th, I was doing much better, but after Tuesday the 13th I saw a vast improvement.

I’d really wanted to be on Fire for God again that Tuesday, earlier in the day we had heard we where going to Boldon, it was just before I was due to go on on Business cards. I knew I wouldn’t have much time when I got back, so I went onto Itunes, download all three FHL (Faith,Hope,Love) podcast’s and all the ‘thought for the week’s’ that where up and that was all I listened to for the time I was on Business cards (with a few Christian songs as intermissions). I was determined, that on that Tuesday night I was going to get something from God. I was praying, I was seeking, I was knocking, I was believing and I had faith that God would move in me that night. And he did.

Its hard to really explain what I felt that night. First I felt a great wave of electricity, starting from my finger tips to the top of my head to the tips of my toes, it was literally paralyzing. In the worldly sense, parallelization is a scary thought. But when your paralyzed (temporarily) by the spirit of God completely wrapping around you, encasing you in an embrace of love, peace and strength-It’s a state of being I think any Christian would stay in gladly for the rest of there days. Never have I felt so safe, never had I felt so much peace as when I was filled with the spirit of God.
God moving and changing something inside of us is just the beginning. We need to be continually filled and focused on him in order to keep on the road of change. The Holy Spirit is here to guide us, through prayer, reading Gods word and taking note of the messages from Dade and Jade which are there to always encourage and guide us in the ways of the Lord. We have all the tools and weapons at our disposal, all we need is the will to let the holy spirit guide us everyday in ever way.

I’d like to finish with a scripture that I feel reflects the ministry of God in our church, and the movement of the spirit amongst us:

2 Corinthians 3:8-11
8Will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9If the ministry that condemns men is glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 10For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11And if what was fading away came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!

Stop Picking on You

March 19th, 2010 by Lizzie

“We need to stop picking on ourselves”

This phrase really stood out on me on Sunday from what Jade was saying during her message on listening to the right voices.

The definition of “pick on” is to criticize or blame; tease; harass. As I am sure anyone who has been picked on by others in the past will testify, it is not a nice experience and can make you feel so small, and can be a very upsetting and damaging experience. Jade was saying, most of us would not stand for, or would at least be deeply offended by other people coming up to us and saying that us we are ugly, or hopeless, or good for nothing.

So yet, why does it seem, our flesh part at least is so determined to say these things to ourselves? Always put ourselves down and be critical or ourselves, say that we are not pretty, or smart or a good person. God created us and chose us before we were even born. God doesn’t make mistakes and we are here for a reason. Obviously none of us are perfect but God doesn’t expect us to be. But if we just stop being so critical of ourselves, and then we can actually, with God’s help work on any areas which need working on. By this I don’t mean asking God to help you save for a nose job or cosmetic surgery. I mean working on your inside, your personality. We all have little areas on which to work, whether you might have anger issues or maybe need to work on being more patient (check and check!) and then, as you start to feel better about yourself on the inside, that will show on the outside.

THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.
Romans 8 v 1 (Amp)

Hear that scripture? NO condemnation for those who dwell in Christ Jesus. We need to stop beating ourselves up over every little thing. God is not like us, he does not get bitter or harbour attitudes towards us, if we mess up, once we have put ourselves right with God (asked His forgiveness) then we are forgiven. At that point – God moves on, so we should also. Forgive ourselves. Let things go, and just try again.

Going back to what Jade was saying, we have to stop listening to the voices which tell us negative things, or things which will have a negative effect for us. If we are trying to live right then tune in to God, cos he sees when we try and will have encouraging things to say to us.

Finally I just want to share a few scriptures about us. These are handy to remember if ever you are tempted to pick on yourself or tell ourselves negative things.

God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness…And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it completely.
Genesis 1 v 26, 31 (Amp)

I put you together in your mother’s womb. You are awesomely and incredibly made.
Psalm 139:13-14 (The Message)

Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
1 Corinthians 1 v 26-30 (NIV)

Bye for now!

Great Ministry

February 1st, 2010 by Andy Meakin

I wanted to share about some of the great ministry that Dade and Jade have been sharing with the church. In particular about believing God for the good, learning that God loves us so much and wants the very best for us. All we need to do is believe that good news and live in it. It seems that every message is showing us more and more of the Fathers love for us and how He wants us to know Him and His awesome salvation as being so real.

Last week Jade, on the thought for the week on www.dadeandjade.com, first one of the new year, spoke on how great the new years potential is that we have just got to learn to trust Him more and more to see our lives start to become more blessed and happy. I liked the illustration about swimming, though I can swim very well now and gained lots of awards for swimming I was the worst in my school when I first started to learn – it took me ages and many failed attempts to get that 1 length certificate. As Jade said we learn to trust that the water will support us and the more we do it the more confidence we have. The more we believe and practice the faith God has given us the more we will find it easier and easier always to trust Him for everything.

Keeping the above in mind it was great to hear the word Dade gave on trusting that God is in control of everything. This week I was greatly encouraged in the truth of this, I knew from the beginning of the week I had a couple of real challenges and difficult situations to face. It’s so easy to trust in our own abilities and over think things or try to run somewhere for help. But every day Its good to get up and believe God for the good, because it’s the day He has made for us. AND HE HAS GONE BEFORE US TO MAKE A WAY AND PREPARE GOOD WORKS AND GOOD THINGS FOR US. More and more all I want to do IS STAY CONNECTED and in a place where God is always real, its so encouraging to feel and know His anointing His presence, not just in the amazing meetings when Dade and Jade are taking it, I’m reminded of the last meeting when God was really moving when I was invited to sing a Christmas carol at the end of the meeting, went to the front but didn’t get very far as the Holy Spirit just filled me with God and I ended up on the floor with numerous others.

In the week It felt a bit like Jehosaphat in 2 Chronicals 20:17 “You shall not need to fight in this battle; take your positions, stand still, and see the deliverance of the Lord [Who is] with you”. I didn’t seem to have to do anything. God made a way where there seemed to be no way. The situations just seemed to get diffused and everything I had hoped would work out, did work out, better than I could have imagined. It’s so encouraging to start seeing amazing things happening. It’s becoming more and more apparent that it REALLY IS TIME TO START BELIEVING IN GOD AND HIS AWESOME PLAN AND PURPOSE FOR EACH OF US.

The most amazing thing I keep seeing from the ministry we are receiving is it’s just so simple. Believe God for good things, expect good, block out the bad and the negative. Get the faith, hope and love in God really working in our lives. Just like swimming, the more confidence and assurance and trust the deeper we want to go. Things do get better when it all starts to click and the eyes of our understanding get more and more open.
