Hello readers I see you have flicked to my page. In my mind's eye I can see the eager glances crossing the page, hungry for the pearls I have left you on these once blank and daunting edifices we call leafs of paper.
Well, sorry to disappoint but alas it is only me, the Josh, sorry if you got me confused with a deep person or one with incredible insight, carry on look around. Nope, just me, therefore I shall begin to astound you with my thoughts, though usually they are cordoned off by the police for excessive randomness.
There can be no doubt that the coolest guy on Earth or, rather in the universe, is God; He created us and put up with us in the Old Testament then gracefully forgave us in the New by sending the most amazing person to ever slip on a pair of sandals and… well…. Breath. Jesus Christ, first name Jesus second name Christ.
For Generations before that angel popped his head in Mary’s window people had prayed for the Christ, the Messiah to come and restore not only them but the whole of mankind to the position he once occupied. Now those guys that stopped talking to us in black and white in Malachi had to wait an awful long time before they found out what we all know today: That Jesus, the Son of God, came and died on the cross taking on himself the sins of the world so we could all have a second chance. Taking, if you will, the biggest bullet ever fired because his Father so loved the world. Not only that but in addition to that He took on death itself and broke its power over us so that we need no longer fear for He has saved us.
So dudes and other readers (whatever you may prefer) I just want to try and talk about that word SAVED.
To save someone means to intentionally or in some cases unintentionally prevent a harmful event falling upon another thing or person, to remove that said object or person from the danger by risking his or her self in the process. You could imagine that you were walking across a street and a car hurtles towards you and some crazy loon… (um I mean really cool, brave, and probably good looking person if you're in a movie) jumps in front of the car and barrels you out of the way. That person risked their own skin, their own earthly form, to prevent you from leaving before your time or at least getting a rather severe rap on the head. Now I don’t know about you but I would want to get to know that person better, heck I would darn well make that person know that I appreciated what that guy had done for me.
Try and imagine that Jesus did that for you (Cos He did!) and then try to figure out how you have thanked Him… Oooooh, there’s a question and perhaps I am not the best qualified person to ask it, I mean who am I, but seriously we should be thanking Him every day that He came and saved us. We should get up in the morning and say, even if its just to ourself, “Thank you Jesus for letting me have the freedom I have today!” (You could throw in a whoo hoo if you really wanted to.)
I mean seriously its not all that hard is it, to give a chap, a dude, a chum, a good friend a bit of recognition now and again; I don’t think so anyway, I mean, day in day out for what, 2000 years or whatever He’s been putting up with our complaints and clap trap; Stuff like “Why God why?” and “Can’t anything good happen to me” or “Why does this happen to me, I’m a good person”. He has to put up with a lot of stick as well, such as this: for the last few hundred years his name has been serialized as a swear word, not a day goes by nowadays without someone in the world spilling a drink and either yelling about his Dad or with a sort of twinge of “hey why did you let this happen?” Or they give it both barrels as they stub their toe smartly on the couch leg and after a while its got to get to a point were He’s feeling like saying - “Hey say that one more time and I’ll come down and see what I can do about it!” I mean would you like it if someone turned yours or your dad’s name into an oath?
But here comes the other bit, that bit that comes after “We are saved” by what? Well Jesus of course but why did God send him? It all comes down to grace because he loved us so much and he had the abiding grace to say OK I’m going to do something about this situation because its just sad. We have to kind of remember that its not like joining a club, were not doing God a favour by joining up, He’s not getting any great package deal when Joe comes in and says “Yeah, heaven sounds nice”. No, He’s doing us a favour, He’s giving us the chance, He’s giving us the motivation and He’s given us the tool and the manual. Lots of people think things like “Oh gee God is so lucky to have me, what would he do without me!” Ahhhhhhhhh notice the only word repeated in that sentence is me, its not about me and its not about you its about God, we are so lucky… SO unbelievably lucky to have the reassurance and the protection of the universe’s most powerful being.
The Bible refers to Him as our rock, our steadiness, the reason we don’t run away from problems but the reason we charge at them. Whom should we fear… Nobody because God is the only somebody we have to worry about pleasing or displeasing.
Jesus said nothing can be done without God and also that we cannot please Him until we have accepted Jesus for those who deny the son deny the father (and that’s not a road I’d like to go down to often).
In John it says in the first chapter that He is the light of the world and whosoever believes in Him cannot die. Remember, He is our light and our salvation and with faith even so little as a grain of mustard seed we have the capability to do and see far more than ever we thought we could. David said in Psalms that He is a comforter, that means when your down you just need to speak His name and He will be there with you, His Spirit will come and look after you, I mean sweet niblets He gave angels charge over us!
OK so, I have just rambled on here for one and a half pages and I have very little idea of what I just said, I hope it helps you and if not please vent your anger and rage at someone else (always remembering I take no responsibility for any offence or trauma inflicted… believe me when I say it is unintentional!) .
God forgave us, Jesus saved us and the Holy Spirit is with us, rock on dudes until the next time I remain…. Well,
Josh.
